What is the proper temperature range for hot mix asphalt?
Hot mix asphalt gets its name from the fact that it is mixed, transported to the job site, and poured at a high temperature. Exactly what that temperature is varies according to the exact grade of asphalt. More viscous asphalt requires higher temperatures. In general, though, the minimum temperature ranges from approximately 107 C to 121 C. The working temperature is adjusted based on project conditions, but should normally never rise above 135 C.
